Approximately 30 years has passed since the founding of Suwon Science College in 1977.  The College was founded to instill students with the importance of national defense and a strong sense of humanitarian values including general courtesy.  The College was also founded to raise the number of middle level technicians to meet the national demand. In the early days of the College there were only three departments.  Now the College accepts more than 3,000 new students each year and the number of departments has increased to 29 to meet the changing requirements of the rapidly developing industrial world.
Korea has achieved tremendous economic growth in the past decades. The rapid progress of engineering technology, the development of new products, and the increase in exports are all behind this rapid growth.  This growth would not have been possible without the expertise of a well-trained labor force.
The future trend in economic development will be in the manufacturing of hi-tech products.  In this century trading patterns will become increasingly complex, as will the structure of industrial society, which promises to become an even more diversified society.  The College must be at the forefront of academic research and development in technology in order keep pace with current and future trends.
As the founder of the College, I will do my utmost to offer the highest quality education and training to our students, so they can bzecome expert technicians and contribute to our national development.

Chairman    Suwon Science College was established by the Ko Woon Foundation in 1977 to help meet the national demand for trained professional technicians. These technicians were needed then in Korea, and are needed even more so today, as leaders of the future society of informational technology.  Promoting the school motto: frugality, justice, and creativity, Suwon Science College has developed into one of leading colleges in Korea.  In the College about 7,000 students are now studying within their major fields, cultivating their personalities and enhancing their practical and technical abilities. 50,000 graduates from the College are very favorably viewed by the community and the companies that employ them.
The College endeavors to educate and train students as creative, excellent, and professional technicians for the 21st century.  It has a Middle and Long-term Plan of Development, according to which various projects are being carried out. For example, an educational and administrative computing network is installed, and hi-tech educational and laboratory facilities are fully equipped with the latest technical innovations. According to the Development Plan, a new hi-tech Lecture and Library Complex Building, is being completed, which would be equipped with one of the best educational facilities for students.  Suwon Science College does not hesitate to acquire any highly developed educational programs from colleges in other developed countries.
I will give my best effort in maintaining the high standards of this College. I will work hard to raise excellent manpower for the future industrial society, to create a new desirable educational culture, and to fill the campus with an ever-lasting spirit of youth.

The College was founded in 1978, with the educational goals of "cultivation of character, development of the nation, and prosperity of human beings"; in order to raise the number of excellent professional technicians who can make great contributions to our national development in this competitive global society.   The College has developed into one of the leading vocational colleges in Korea, because of its excellent educational and laboratory facilities, excellent faculty, and our students' efforts, as well as its spacious campus of 500,000 square meters. It is also very favorably viewed by the local community. For these reasons, it has striven to maintain high standards of education and to offer student-centered education; its graduates are also viewed as highly qualified laborers in every field of our industrial society. The College, which comprises 29 academic departments and many supporting centers, such as its Life-long Education Center, is now equipped with a great variety of hi-tech laboratory facilities offering students practical technical expertise. Furthermore, the faculty has maintained close ties with outside industries and has participated in major research projects for various industries, in its efforts to produce good results in the area of industrial and educational cooperation.
In addition, the College is famous for its extra curricula programs, such as: close-ties between education and outside companies; field-centered education; and "on-demand" education; which have risen to a new horizon in vocational college education in Korea.
As the President of this College, I will do my best to offer a highly developed educational environment, which is able to educate students as highly qualified technicians who are ready for the future society.
