Advanced materials may lead to efficient designs, extend existing technologies and enable the development of new technologies. In order to have a good lead in economic competition with other countries in the 21st century, the department aims to educate students in the development of advanced material application.  It will prepare them with a better understanding of advanced materials in order for them to play an important role in the advanced fields of technology directly related to advanced materials.  To achieve these goals, the department teaches students how to apply advanced materials in fields such as SMA(Shape Memory Alloy), spin casting, cryotough treatment, surface modification technology, tribology etc.
